Mechanical Technician – Power Station

SCINERGY Recruitment are recruiting for a Mechanical Technician to join the maintenance department of a biomass power station near in Sleaford, Lincolnshire.

This role focuses on delivering safe, reliable mechanical maintenance across the plant, supporting availability, efficiency and long-term asset performance. The successful candidate will work closely with operations and engineering teams to ensure all mechanical equipment is maintained to a high standard.

The role will involve:

  • Planned and reactive mechanical maintenance on rotating and static plant equipment
  • Maintenance and overhaul of pumps, valves, gearboxes, conveyors, compressors and associated systems
  • Supporting maintenance activities on boilers, fuel handling and auxiliary plant
  • Carrying out fault-finding, defect rectification and first-line repairs
  • Completing maintenance activities in line with site procedures, permits and isolation requirements
  • Updating maintenance records and work orders within the CMMS
  • Supporting outages and shutdown activities as required
  • Working alongside specialist contractors and equipment vendors
  • Maintaining high standards of health, safety, environmental compliance and housekeeping

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • A recognised mechanical qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) with a completed apprenticeship
  • Experience working in an industrial or process environment such as  power generation, refining, paper production etc. Marine Engineers from the Navy will also be considered
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and maintenance experience on equipment such as pumps, valves, gearboxes, compressors, conveyor systems etc
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary site team
  • A strong understanding of safe systems of work and permit-to-work procedures
