SCINERGY Recruitment are currently recruiting for an EC&I Engineer to join a brand-new Energy from Waste power station in Tilbury, Essex.
This new EFW facility is currently under construction and, once operational, will process over 350,000 tonnes of waste per year while generating enough energy to power the equivalent of 93,000 homes. As the EC&I Engineer, you will be responsible for the site's electrical, control and instrumentation systems, ensuring safe operation, long-term reliability and high plant availability.
The role will involve leading the EC&I maintenance function, managing technicians and contractors, planning maintenance and outages, and supporting the facility through commissioning and into full operation.
The Role
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the EC&I maintenance function and supervising Electrical and C&I Technicians and apprentices
- Planning and coordinating maintenance across HV, LV, DCS, instrumentation and CEMS equipment
- Diagnosing electrical, control and instrumentation faults and ensuring they are resolved safely and efficiently
- Managing EC&I activities during planned outages, unplanned shutdowns and plant breakdowns
- Ensuring the Computerised Maintenance Management System is fully utilised and records remain accurate
- Managing the EC&I workshop, statutory inspections, maintenance documentation, spares and contractors
- Delivering plant modifications in line with the site Engineering Change procedure
- Controlling safe systems of work, including permits, isolations and safety documentation across LV and HV systems
- Working with the Engineering Manager, other disciplines and Operations to maximise plant availability and reliability
- Monitoring budgets, performance targets and maintenance priorities while driving continual improvement
About You
You will ideally have:
- Experience as an EC&I Engineer, Electrical Engineer, C&I Engineer, E&I Engineer or similar within a process or power generation environment
- Experience within Energy from Waste, biomass, CCGT, CHP, coal, petrochemical, refinery, chemical or another heavy process plant
- A relevant engineering qualification such as ONC, HNC or equivalent in electrical/electronic engineering or similar
- Strong knowledge of electrical, control and instrumentation maintenance, fault-finding and preventative maintenance systems
- Experience maintaining Distributed Control Systems, with knowledge of Siemens, Valmet or similar systems being advantageous
- Appropriate HV and LV experience, with the ability to hold or work towards a Senior Authorised Person appointment
- Experience using a Computerised Maintenance Management System and coordinating planned maintenance and outage activities
- Strong knowledge of permit-to-work systems, plant isolations and health, safety and environmental requirements
- Leadership experience supervising technicians and contractors to deliver agreed maintenance and performance targets
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills, with the flexibility to respond to breakdowns outside normal working hours when required
